Surrey re-sign Kemar Roach for remaining County Championship season
Roach has grabbed 65 wickets in 17 matches for Surrey at an average of 24.5.
West Indian pacer Kemar Roach has re-joined Surrey County Cricket Club for the final three games of the ongoing County Championship season. He has picked up 18 wickets in five games earlier in the season., before leaving the team due to personal issues.
Later he represented the West Indies in the two-match Test series against India at home, which they lost 1-0. This will be Roach's third season with Surrey. The 35-year-old has grabbed 65 wickets in 17 matches for Surrey at an average of 24.5.
His first game will be against Warwickshire at The Kia Oval, starting on September 3. In the reverse fixture at Edgbaston, he picked a stunning nine wickets, which included an outstanding spell of 5/34 in the second innings, where he grabbed his 500th First-Class wicket.
The 35-year-old got his Surrey County Cap against Middlesex at The Oval in London earlier this season, honoring the steadfastness of his services to the Club both on and off the field.
Surrey will host the Northants at The Oval for the final home game of the County Championship season, which will be played between September 19 to 22. Following this they will travel to Hampshire (26-29 September) for the final game of the ongoing season.
Surrey CCC heads into September 2023 at the top of the table and will have the chance to retain the title they won last year. Meanwhile, Essex are standing behind them with 17 points.
After being re-signed at Surrey, Roach expressed his fondness for his team, stating it is his "second home". The 35-year-old stated that he is eager to play for the team and will give his maximum for the team's success.
“Surrey is a second home for me and I’m looking forward to getting back down to business ahead of three massive games. We know what the goal is for the team and I’m going to give everything to help achieve it,” Roach was quoted by Surrey's official website.
