Suryakumar Yadav is India's trump card in the T20 World Cup: Farokh Engineer
Suryakumar Yadav has been in red-hot touch in the 20-over format.
Team India is taking on Pakistan in both teams' first match at the T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue won the toss at the MCG and decided to bowl first. India has taken two crucial wickets of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the field restrictions.
They will be looking to wrap up Pakistan's innings on a low score before chasing it down. The likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and in-form Suryakumar Yadav will have a big responsibility to chase down the total. Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Farokh Engineer has said that Suryakumar Yadav is India's trump card in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
There is certainly some pressure on Suryakumar Yadav: Farokh Engineer
'There is certainly some pressure on Suryakumar Yadav because he is the finest stroke players, but don't forget by playing against good bowling he is taking a risk as well. I am a Surya fan, you know, a huge fan of Surya. The array of strokes that he has got and the confidence he has got. But, the more risky strokes he is playing, the more chances he is taking to get out. There is certainly some pressure on him, but he is India's trump card and their prominent run-scorer as well," said Farokh Engineer on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show' on CricTracker.
Farokh also talked about Pakistan's fielding and said that it has been terrible. "Pakistan's fielding has been terrible when I have seen them before in earlier games. They have got a good bowling line-up, but if their fielding lets them down then it's gonna be a problem for them. Pakistan needs to hold their catches," he added.
As mentioned above, Suryakumar has been in good touch especially in the 20-over format. The right-handed batter also performed extremely well in the practice games and will be keen to make an impact with the bat in the ongoing tournament.
