Suryakumar Yadav reacts to being world's no 1 ranked T20I batter
Suryakumar Yadav played 31 T20Is and scored 1164 runs in 2022.
Suryakumar Yadav has been sensational in T20I cricket of late. Whatever he touched almost turned to gold in 2022 as the 32-year-old played 31 T20Is in the calendar year and scored 1164 runs at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 187.43.
Even though India failed to qualify for the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022, the Mumbai-born cricketer was exceptional and finished as the third-leading run-scorer of the tournament.
His unbelievable consistency has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now and courtesy of which, Suryakumar is currently the number one T20I-ranked batter in the world.
Speaking about the same, Yadav recently said that it still feels like a dream to him but also mentioned that he has worked hard to be in such a position.
“It still feels like a dream. To be seen and called as world’s No. 1 T20 batter. If someone would have told me one year back, I don’t know how I would have reacted. When I started playing this format, I wanted to be the best and I worked hard for it,” said the 32-year-old while talking to PTI.
Whenever I go into bat, I put up a show: Suryakumar
The charismatic India batter stole the show on multiple occasions in 2022. Against New Zealand in the second T20I in Christchurch on November 20, the flamboyant cricketer smashed a terrific century (111* runs of 51 deliveries) to help India win the match and the T20I series eventually.
Even against the West Indies in the third T20I at Basseterre on August 2, the top-order batter wreaked havoc and scored 76 off 44 deliveries to help Men in Blue win the match by seven wickets. There are multiple such instances of him playing unbelievable cricket and Surya recently revealed that whenever he goes to bat, he tries to put up a show for everyone.
“I don’t like to think too much when I am playing any format. Because I enjoy this game, whenever I go into bat, I put up a show. What I always dream and visualise is that whenever I go in, I want to be the game-changer. I have always loved batting whether it is T20Is, ODIs or Ranji Trophy,” said Suryakumar.
