T20 Blast 2023: Josh Cobb's stunning catch sends Rob Yates packing

Northamptonshire's Josh Cobb grabbed a stunning catch against Warwickshire in the T20 Blast at the County Ground in Northampton on Wednesday, May 31. Northamptonshire suffered a 21-run loss against Warwickshire at their home stadium. 

Cobb finished the 16th over with a superb catch of Warwickshire opener Rob Yates on David Willey's delivery. Yates attempted to hit a six, but Cobb, on the boundary, ran to his left and grabbed the ball with both hands in a stunning effort.

T20 Blast took to Twitter and shared the video of Cobb's stunner to dismiss the Warwickshire batter. "An extraordinary catch from Josh Cobb.  That is a stunner to get Rob Yates," T20 Blast captioned the post.

Warwickshire beat Northamptonshire by 21 runs

Speaking about the game, Northamptonshire skipper David Willey won the toss and decided to bowl first. Opener Rob Yates played a stunning 53-ball 71 runs as Warwickshire scored a mammoth 202 runs in 20 overs. Apart from Yates, skipper Alex Davies and Sam Hain also provided worthwhile contributions to the visiting side, scoring 46 and 48* respectively. Willey, Andrew Tye and Freddie Heldreich grabbed two wickets for Northamptonshire.

In reply, Northamptonshire also produced a stunning batting display despite losing early wickets. Opener Ricardo Vasconcelos led the charge for the home team, smashing 65 off 39 deliveries including 13 boundaries. Skipper Willey also played an important knock, scoring 33 off 27 balls. However, Warwickshire bowlers were instrumental as they were restricted to 181. For the visitors, Craig Miles claimed a four-wicket haul while Glenn Maxwell, Danny Briggs, and Dan Mousley made one scalp each.
