Delhi Capitals KL Rahul opened up on his white-ball game and how much he has improved after his recent outing in the ongoing IPL 2025. The wicketkeeper-batter has also opened up on how he had to completely change his mindset especially to get back to his best in T20 cricket, which has been a format where he had struggled a lot in the recent past, despite being one of the top draws initially.
Rahul played a superb innings in DC's last game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he scored 77 off 51 deliveries to take the Capitals to a competitive total in the first innings of the game and was the Player of the Match.
After the game, the star cricketer talked about how much he has worked on his white ball game with experienced individuals like Abhishek Nayar, the India men's assistant coach, in a chat alongside DC mentor Kevin Pietersen. The 32-year-old also mentioned what led to his change in mindset of playing a much more aggressive style of cricket and not thinking of taking the game deep.
“I've worked really hard on my white-ball game the last year or so. Big shoutout to Abhishek Nayar. I've worked a lot with him ever since he's come into the Indian team. We've spent hours and hours together talking about my white-ball game and how I can be better. We worked hours and hours together in Bombay, and somewhere I have found the fun playing white-ball cricket,” he told IPL.

“I think somewhere along the way I lost that fun of hitting boundaries and hitting sixes. I wanted to take the game deep, deep, deep, and that somehow stuck in my head, but now I have realised I need to go back… cricket's changed, and T20 cricket, especially, is only about hitting boundaries. The team that hits more boundaries and sixes ends up winning the game,” the ace batter further added.
“So back to enjoying my cricket. I am not thinking too much about the game, not thinking about taking it deep or none of that stuff. Just see [the] ball and try and be aggressive and put the pressure on the bowler and the opposition and just enjoy hitting boundaries,” the Karnataka-born concluded.
The next challenge for Rahul will be against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10. He will be up against his former franchise, as the Rajat Patidar-led side will host the Capitals at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. The local boy would be looking to contribute in this upcoming clash and maintain the winning momentum for his side.
