Other than beating Afghanistan, Ireland has lost six out of their seven last T20I series. However, the team has competed against some of the top sides in the form of India, New Zealand and South Africa in the period of the last six months which has definitely given them the confidence to do well in the coming days. On October 17, Ireland will play their first match of the competition against Zimbabwe. In order to qualify for the super twelve of the mega tournament, the Irish players will also face Scotland and West Indies in the group stage of the T20 World Cup. The top two teams of the group will then go on to join the super eight teams in the super twelve round.

Before the all-important cup, the Irish players will be playing a couple of warm-up games against Namibia and Sri Lanka. This will help them to understand the Australian conditions and their playing combination before the tournament begins.

Coming to their team dynamics, George Dockrell and Lorcan Tucker were in tremendous form against Afghanistan, their last T20I series before the multi-nation tournament. Captain Andrew Balbirnie has also been pretty impressive with the bat. Consistency is one area that the team needs to work on. The bowlers on the other hand have done reasonably well. Josh Little with his sheer pace has done a lot of damage previously and if he manages to keep going, Ireland will be a force to reckon with in the group stages of the competition.
