T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma faces injury scare ahead of semi-final clash against England

In what seems to be a major blow, India skipper Rohit Sharma has reportedly sustained a forearm injury during a net session ahead of their all-important ICC T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal encounter against England at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 10.

The report further adds that a big ice pack was tied to his right arm where the blow was delivered. Sharma then opted to sit out of the training session and kept watching it from the sidelines before returning. However, the ‘Hitman’ seemed to be in deep discomfort.

Rohit Sharma was facing the Indian team’s throwdown expert S Raghu at the Adelaide Oval as a part of the regular practice drills. During the session, a short ball suddenly jumped off the length area and struck the Indian captain on his right forearm.

Sharma, who was looking to fend, got hit and that is when the injury happened. He seemed to be in excruciating pain and discontinued the net session instantly.

Nonetheless, after applying ice pack and resting a bit, Sharma did resume training, but he only resorted to playing defensive shots in order to check whether his hand movement was fine as he was advised not to take too much strain while training.

Meanwhile, the extent of the injury is still unknown and Rohit Sharma will be assessed by the Indian medical team, which will provide clarity on the matter.

It now remains to be seen whether the impact of the injury will be forcing him to miss the semis clash against England or he would recover just in time before the knockout clash. India would be hoping that nothing untoward happens as they take on the Three Lions for a place in the final.

This will be the first-ever World Cup knockout clash between India and England after 35 years. The last time it happened was during the 1987 World Cup semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium.
