India's first warm-up match of the T20 World Cup against Australia served up an absolute thriller as both sides were engaged in an electric affair at the Gabba. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli did not contribute with the bat as much as he would have liked but turned the match in India's favor with an exceptional bit of fielding to dismiss the dangerous Tim David in the penultimate over.

Rohit Sharma's side posted a competitive total in the match after being put into bat by the Aussies as KL Rahul's glittering half century followed by another sublime fifty from Suryakumar Yadav helped the Indian cause in the first innings. The home side opted for a makeshift opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aaron Finch after David Warner was benched for the game.

The duo got the defending champions to a brisk start in the powerplay and set the tone for the rest of the innings. Australia were running away with the game, largely due to Finch's innings. With 16 needed off the last two overs, the Men in Yellow were favorites to get over the line. That is when the under-fire Harshal Patel got rid of the Aussie skipper with a deceptive loopy slower delivery. Tim David, who is renowned for his explosive batting, was sent packing on the very next delivery after Virat Kohli charged from mid-wicket to finish a spectacular run-out.

India prevail in a nail biting thriller thanks to Mohammed Shami's whirlwind final over

Kohli's incredible piece of fielding shifted the momentum in India's favor as Harshal conceded just five runs in that over. Rohit Sharma's masterplan to bring Mohammed Shami for the last over of the match turned out to be the decisive factor, as the pacer conceded just four runs in the final over, dismissing four batters in four deliveries in a stunning display of death bowling to restrict the Aussies to 180 runs.

India won the match by six runs from an unlikely position and got out of jail in the final two overs, with Kohli once again being in the thick of things.
