Virat Kohli showed nerves of steel as he helped India chase down a daunting total of 160 against arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening fixture of Super 12 in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. India bowled exceedingly well upfront as Arshdeep Singh removed both Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan cheaply inside the powerplay.

But Pakistan showed signs of resurgence and two valiant fifties from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed helped them to reach 159 for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

Chasing 160, India were in trouble early as they lost skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul without enough runs on the board. India then had their hopes pinned on Suryakumar Yadav but he also perished in the powerplay. Indian management then sent Axar Patel in the middle ahead of Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik to help Virat but an unfortunate run out ended his short stay at the crease.

Virat then teamed up with Hardik to register a 113-run stand and brought India close to victory. With 16 needed off the last over, the onus was on Virat to finish the game for India and he didn't disappoint either. He scored an unbeaten 82-run knock off just 53 deliveries to seal a historic four-wicket win for India.
