Due to a significant time difference in the sub-continent and West Indies and USA, the venue of 2024 T20 World Cup, India-Pakistan clash in New York on June 9 is likely to be played in daytime to suit the TV timings in the sub-continent. Reports also suggest that the Men in Blue will play all their matches in the United States of America (USA) and may only travel to the West Indies for the knockouts, but the entire discussion is under process.
In case the match between India and Pakistan is played under lights, it will be broadcast early in the morning in the subcontinent, which the concerned parties are trying to avoid as it would impact the viewership adversely. If it is a day game in the USA, the match broadcast will be during the evening in the sub-continent, a prime time for the viewers.
As per RevSportz, the ultimate goal is to push cricket in the United States and ICC is leaving no stones untouched. Since the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has already given the green signal to Los Angeles to host Cricket in 2028, the preparations are in full swing as ICC is already working on a detailed plan to push cricket in the United States. India playing all of their T20 World Cup matches in the country is one such major step that the governing body is likely to take.
The report also claims that the tournament schedule is likely to be released by next week. Ireland might join India and Pakistan in the group but more will come to light after ICC announce the fixtures for the mega tournament, slated to begin in early June.
Meanwhile, there is a large number of Indian cricket fans in the United States. The national team played a couple of T20I matches against West Indies in the US earlier in the year as they received a lot of support from the local Indian fans. Hence, a lot of people are expected to turn up on the big day as New York is set to host a blockbuster clash.
