Teams and players participating in the T20 World Cup have been very concerned about Florida's erratic weather over the previous several days. Rain never stopped, causing multiple ground inspections that finally ended in consecutive washouts.

The Pakistani squad has been unlucky due to poor weather, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has come under fire for inadequate facilities at US venues and their lack of readiness for inclement weather, particularly given that flood-ravaged Florida is expected to see such conditions.

Due to the soggy outfield, the crucial Group A match between the USA and Ireland washed out and finished without a ball being played. The following day's India vs. Canada match at the same location ended in the same way.

Former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu expressed his annoyance by emphasising that the Indian cricket committee should make sure that teams' abilities, not the weather, influence match results.

Sidhu expressed his views on Star Sports' X account stating, "There is a lot of room for improvement. The ICC should not let the weather dictate conditions; it should be based on the teams' abilities. Yesterday the sopper conked off because petrol nahi tha (it didn't have petrol), and the entire ground isn't covered."

Sidhu emphasised the differences between cricket and other sports even more, stating, "When you play basketball or rugby, the stadiums are fully covered. This is a great country with enough resources, so it's essential to ensure that the teams' abilities are fairly assessed. If strong teams fall behind due to rain, it takes the sting out of the tournament."

The washout impacted the Pakistan Cricket team, who lost to USA and India earlier had their chances in the tournament but were also hanging by a thread.
