Hope did not waste much time and played aggressive cricket right from the beginning, which impressed skipper Powell. After the game, he lauded the Hope for his impactful knock and mentioned that the 30-year-old couldn’t crack into the team previously due to team composition but is happy to see him back. He also thanked the crowd in Barbados, as they came out in numbers.
“(On Shai Hope) He's been fantastic, he got a chance against Afghanistan but was dropped next game against England in St Lucia because of the combination. However, he was hungry for a good performance. It (WI vs South Africa) should be a top game, we are up for the fight. We got a full house here to support us, that's all we can ask for,” Powell said in the post-match presentation.
