Team India seem to have found their playing XI going into the mid-stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was picked over Shubman Gill has not played a single game as Virat Kohli has been entrusted with opening alongside Rohit Sharma. The pacers have found their mojo and every bowler is among wickets and Avesh Khan, who was the travelling reserve has fallen out of contention.

As per the reports, both Avesh and Gill will fly back to India after the USA leg of the matches. On Wednesday, both players were seen flying with the team from New York to Fort Lauderdale by a chartered flight. Gill and Avesh were part of the India squad in case of any mishaps for other players. As the USA leg has concluded, both will be sent back to India. It is worth noting that Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed are other reserves who are still with the team.

The move is an anticipated one Gill has no choice but to return and India have a backup opener in the form of Jaiswal. As far as Avesh is concerned, the team has two right-pacers in the form of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, add Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube to that list. Hence, Khaleel, a left-arm pacer, is a viable option for the team if Arshdeep Singh picks up an injury.
