The T20 World Cup 2024 final will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. South Africa have booked their finals berth, beating Afghanistan mercilessly in the semifinal on June 27. Meanwhile, India team also marched past England in the second semi-final to advance into the grand finale. But, as the Caribbean weather has played a huge part in the outcome of the games during the group stages, fans will be pondering over the plight of showdown owing to the same.

According to the weather forecast, things do not look good on the match day, as the rain gods will make their presence felt throughout the game. The game is slated to start at 10:30 AM, local time (8pm IST). There is a 70 per cent chance of rain, with high humidity levels of 81 percent and strong winds in the morning, continuing till afternoon. The persistent rain might hamper the proceedings and the organisers must opt for Plan B.

Speaking of Plan B, there is a Reserve Day allotted for the final contest, and the game, if fails to undergo on the prescribed day, will be carried on June 30. The ICC has already received immense flak for not allotting a Reserve Day for the second semi-final. With the Final match having one, the tournament will brace for its latest champion on the subsequent day if things fall apart on the scheduled day.

What if the reserve day of the Finals turns out to be a washout?

If the Reserve Day turns too is washed out, the two finalists will be declared as the joint winners of the tournament. But this is nothing new for an ICC tournament. It is worth noting that, India and Sri Lanka were declared the joint winners of the 2002 Champions Trophy as the final was a washout due to incessant rains. The joint winner's result will also hold good in case of a tied game and the same result in the Super Over. Unlike for the semifinals, Super Eights or Group Stage standings won't be a determining factor in the finale.
