India vice captain Hardik Pandya yet again showed a class batting and scored a half century off 27 balls, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant scored 37 (28) and 26 (27) runs respectively.

Bangladesh lost by 50 runs against India in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024. Bangladesh is now in danger because of the defeat. Bangladesh's prospects of making it to the semifinals are currently extremely slim.

India after the win against Bangladesh, have reached the top of the table with seven points and a net run rate of 1.137. With the win, India equalled Sri Lanka's record for registering most wins (32) in T20 World Cup history.

Let us now see how Bangladesh can still qualify for semis:

Bangladesh's prospects of making it to the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals are long gone following their crushing loss to India, but they are still very much in the running. Bangladesh would need to defeat Australia in Afghanistan and India in order to qualify. Bangladesh would then have to win their last Super 8 match against Afghanistan. In this scenario, Bangladesh, Australia, and Afghanistan would be equal on two points, and the team with the higher run rate would advance. Bangladesh's low run rate means that they need a miracle to advance to the semifinals.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh went in with a heavy spin attack and decided to start with the spinners, Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma looked safe and in no trouble and got India off to a flying start. India skipper Rohit Sharma was later on dismissed by the Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan for 23 runs while Kohli got out for 37 runs off Tanzim Hasan's over.
