Former Indian world champion Yuvraj Singh opined that the team which can control their emotions better in the high-voltage India (IND) versus Pakistan (PAK) clash on Sunday, June 9, in New York, will come up trumps. The age-old rivals are going to lock horns in what is going to be a very crucial encounter in Group A, especially for Pakistan, who lost their opening game against the USA.
India have played four T20Is this year and have maintained an all-win record. They defeated Ireland with elan in their opening T20 World Cup 2024 fixture. While recent form favours India, the team which plays better during the 40 overs will take the two crucial points along with the bragging rights. Yuvraj Singh, who won India several matches against Pakistan during his illustrious career, said that he is looking forward to watching Rohit Sharma face Mohammad Amir and Virat Kohli take guard against Shaheen Afridi.
“I think we’re all moved by the emotion of the India-Pakistan game because we have a lot of history. Pakistan have got some really fiery bowlers. I think we got a stronger batting side. I’m definitely looking at Mohammed Amir vs Rohit because he likes to get the ball full and then Shaheen Afridi against Virat," said Yuvraj in a video released by ICC.
"I think these are going to be some big match ups. But at the end of the day, you have to use your mind. You have to play according to the situation and I feel the team which plays according to the situation and keeps the emotion back will definitely win this game,” the former world champion concluded.
