Texas Super Kings announce signing of Daryl Mitchell ahead of MLC 2024

Star New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell was recently announced as the latest signing of the MLC (Major League Cricket) franchise Texas Super Kings. Expected to make his debut for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024, Mitchell will join hands with international teammates Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway in the USA. 

On the other side of the horizon, defending champions MI New York announced the signing of West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd, who is due to make his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, alongside Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje. 

With the announcement of Mitchell’s signing, the star batter came forward to talk about what the move means to him and how excited he is to represent Texas Super Kings in the MLC.

"I'm really excited to be part of the Texas Super Kings and to get to yellove again and be part of the CSK family, I think the cool thing about the MLC following the World Cup being in the West Indies and the America [is] the conditions should be pretty similar and hopefully we continue to adapt to the different conditions and get stuck in,” Mitchell was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. 

In other signings, New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell went to the Seattle Orcas, and Australian batter Matt Short went to the San Francisco Unicorns. Speaking of the domestic draft, Super Kings roped in Raj Nannan and Josh Tromp. Furthermore, West Indies’ Jahmar Hamilton was picked up by Unicorns.

It is worth noting that Tamil Nadu’s Adithya Ganesh, who had recently moved to the USA, was the number one pick in the domestic draft and will be turning up for Knight Riders. The side’s assistant coach, Ryan ten Doeschate, came forward to heap praise on Ganesh.

"Our thinking was that it was most important to cover the starting XI, and we didn't want to take any risks, We did a lot of research on Adithya; he is someone who has played in India quite a bit. So, we were pretty determined to get him and then sort of make up where we need to further along the line. Adithya seemed the best out of the bunch with our research and what we think we need this year,” Ryan ten Doeschate told the MLC network.
