Thailand and Netherlands enter Women's ICC ODI Team Rankings chart
Thailand dominated the four-match ODI series against the Netherlands with a 4-0 win at home.
Both Thailand and Netherlands made way into the Women's ICC ODI Team rankings after the conclusion of the four-match series. Thailand won all four matches at home with an impressive all-round performance and are now placed eighth in the ICC ODI Team rankings with 72 points. Though the Netherlands do not have any points to their name, they entered the rankings and are placed in 12th.
A 4-0 series win at home proved as a massive boost for Thailand as they swiftly entered the ICC rankings for the first time. With the win, they also surpassed top asian teams Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the chart. Thailand are enjoying a great run lately and are expected to do well in the future as well.
They reached the semi-final round in the recent Women's T20 Asia Cup 2022 tournament after impressive group-stage victories against Pakistan, UAE, and Malaysia. They suffered an abysmal 74-run defeat against India in the semi-final round but they received massive praises from the cricketing fraternity.
Thailand Women dominated ODI series with 4-0 win
Playing in their first-ever ODI game, Thailand won the opening match by 100 runs, by virtue of D/L method. Natthakan Chantham smashed her maiden ODI hundred and Onnicha Kamchommphu took three wickets in the first ODI. Netherlands' bowlers bowled Thailand out for just 176 runs with Eva Lynch taking four wickets for 33. But they fell just eight runs short during the chase as Thailand's Suleeporn Laomi grabbed three wickets to earn her side a narrow win.
Thailand continued their dominance in the third ODI with another big 99-run win. Chantham scored 55 runs and captain Naruemol Chahiwai contributed with a 65-run knock to post a total of 227 runs while batting first. Laomi bowled another match-winning spell and picked up four wickets while conceding just 26 runs to dish out the Dutch side for just 128 runs which helped Thailand clinch the series.
In the last ODI, Netherlands collapsed for just 145 runs with Thailand's Nanthita Boonsukham taking four wickets. Chantham continued her red-hot form with another fifty and led her team to a massive seven-wicket win.
The Netherlands suffered big defeats in all four games, and their loss came after losing three ODIs against Ireland back in August. The Netherlands now acquire 12th out of the 13 places in the ODI rankings but are yet to gain a point. Both Thailand and the Netherlands will now turn their focus to the four-match T20I series starting from November 29.
