Star India women’s batter Jemimah Rodrigues recently came forward and talked about how the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) and her participation in it for the first time will help her in handling high-pressure situations ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024.
It is worth noting that Jemimah will be representing Trinbago Knight Riders women in the WCPL, and they will be facing off against defending champions Barbados Royals women in their first game of the season on August 24 morning.
“Firstly, just to come out and play cricket because, for me, that’s how I see it before the (women’s) T20 World Cup (2024). I think these are the matches that I'm actually going to get, as the rest will be my own preparation,” Rodrigues told Fancode.
“The more you're in that situation and in those pressure moments, I think that's the best preparation you can have. So, for me, I look at it (WCPL) more as a preparation for the T20 World Cup,” she added.

Really looking forward to a few things: Rodrigues
Furthermore, Rodrigues also talked about some things that she has been looking forward to improving in her game ahead of the major tournaments. Despite the conversation being centred around the WCPL, Rodrigues highlighted the importance of preparation for the women’s T20 World Cup.
“Really looking forward to…a few things that I'm working on at nets and I am trying to implement them here. Because when you do it in practice, it's different. But when you do it in a match, it's way different,” Rodrigues said.
“At the same time, I have an added responsibility playing for TKR to do whatever I can to make sure my team wins in the end,” she added.
It is worth noting that aside from Rodrigues, India’s Shikha Pandey will also turn out for Trinbago Knight Riders women, with former pacer Jhulan Goswami as the side’s mentor. The marquee event will begin in October 2024, in the UAE, after it was shifted from Bangladesh due to political tensions in the country.
