The Ashes 2023 is just three weeks away as Australia and England prepare themselves to lock horns in the first Test on June 16 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Ahead of the series, Australia will be up against India in the final of the World Test Championship from June 7 at The Oval in London. On the other hand, England will play a one-off Test against Ireland from June 1 at Lord’s in London.

Ahead of the much-awaited series, England and Wales Cricket Board unveiled a new England jersey for the five-match series. In a video shared by the cricket board, England stars Issy Wong, Kate Cross and James Anderson can be seen flaunting the new ‘whites’ as they get ready to take part in the oldest rivalry in cricket.

ECB took to Twitter to share the video and wrote, “Rising for the Ashes. The special edition Ashes Test shirt is available now. 🔥 #ENGvAUS.”

Both countries are yet to announce their squads for the much-anticipated series. Australia have been retaining the urn from the last three Ashes series winning by 4-0 in 2017-18 and 2021-22 respectively. They ended up levelling the series 2-2 in 2019 and retained the Ashes for the first time in England since 2001.

However, the upcoming series is expected to be an evenly matched contest between the two sides as England have taken Test cricket by storm with their new aggressive brand of cricket under the leadership of head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes.

In the 13 Tests played under Stokes’ leadership, the Three Lions have won ten and lost three. On the other hand, Australia finished on the top spot in the WTC cycle 2021-23 with a points percentage of 66.67.

Pat Cummins was handed over the captaincy ahead of the cycle as Tim Paine took an indefinite break due to a controversy. Cummins only lost one series in the entire cycle against India by 2-1 and will look to continue his incredible run in the WTC final and the Ashes.
