Former South African cricketing maestro AB de Villiers lauded the remarkable prowess of India's skipper, Rohit Sharma. Highlighting Rohit's remarkable journey from being the fourth slowest to 2,000 runs in ODIs to becoming the second fastest to the coveted 10,000-run milestone, De Villiers expressed his deep respect for the Indian skipper.

The former South Africa batter, renowned for his astute cricketing skills, didn't hold back his admiration for the hitman’s unwavering spirit on the field. He emphasized Rohit's indomitable fighting spirit, a quality that has set him apart throughout his career. Mr.360 reminisced about an intense Test match in Durban, where the India opener fearlessly faced the likes of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. He stated,

"I think of a Test match in Durban where he just wouldn’t stand back to Dale Steyn or Morne Morkel or any of our fast bowlers. He would make eye contact. If anyone chirped him. He would be right in their face, chest out. I always liked that,”

I didn't enjoy it because Rohit was there to beat us: AB de Villiers

Further adding, “The first time I watched him play, I thought this guy has got something special to offer. At that time, I didn't enjoy it because he was there to beat us. But thinking back, he always had this incredible fighting spirit.” De Villiers revealed on his YouTube channel.

The 39-year-old South African legend also lauded Rohit Sharma's burgeoning partnership with the young and talented Shubman Gill. In fact, Rohit and Gill have achieved the distinction of becoming the fastest Indian pair to amass 1,000 partnership runs, accomplishing this milestone in just 13 innings.

“Very interestingly, he has had an incredible partnership with Shubman Gill. Two fighters at the crease is always a dangerous thing for the opposition. As an opening pair, they are averaging 87-odd (95) with a strike rate of 110. If they can do that for India in the World Cup,” said De Villiers.
