England star all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt is expecting to return to her side's bowling attack for their tour of India. She made a comeback to England's ODI side as a batter against Sri Lanka, after being benched for the T20I series.

She had picked up a knee injury during the Ashes Test in June 2023. The 31-year-old bowled six overs across the three T20Is and 24 overs in the three ODIs and picked up a total of five wickets. She finished as player of the Ashes, having scored 404 runs at an average of 57.71 which included back-to-back ODI centuries.

Following England's series win against Sri Lanka, Sciver-Brunt stated that she will be back to bowling again in the next series against India. She added that she did not bowl after the Ashes to give the body a bit of a rest.

"The plan is to be back for the India series in December. The decision not to bowl post-Ashes, I guess, was more to give the body a bit of a rest and to train without having to rush around and doing everything all the time, so it was quite nice actually," Sciver-Brunt said at the post-match presentation.

"But I'm looking forward to picking up the ball again. When you're playing games I want to influence as much as I can in every part of the game. That's the best part of being an all-rounder. Fielding and not being able to influence with the ball was a little bit frustrating but I was happy to have the body break," the all-rounder concluded.

Nat's a brilliant allrounder: Jon Lewis

Meanwhile, England's head coach Jon Lewis opened up about why they decided not to bowl Nat Sciver-Brunt in the series against Sri Lanka. He stated that the team wanted to make sure of her longevity as an all-rounder which is very crucial.

"Nat's a brilliant allrounder. We've just made the decision with Nat to again prioritise when she bowls, not only to give other people opportunity, but to make sure that we have Nat as an allrounder for as long as we can."

Besides Lewis also did not forget to emphasize on the fact that Nat Sciver-Brunt has a great impact on the English side as brings about a balance in the team in terms of team combination in the bowling department. Notably, the England Women push for playing three spinners in the conditions assisting the spin attack whenever Sciver-Brunt is available to play for the side.

"That's really important for this team. The balance that she brings for the team makes it much easier for me to put Charlie in the team and for me, that's fantastic, especially when we're going to the subcontinent. The fact that she can bowl seam in the Powerplay and do a really good job with the new ball makes it easier for me to select three spinners in the side, which is something that I really want to do in those conditions," Lewis stated.
