Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are engrossed in a virtual knockout match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, 1st September. The clash is the final match in Group B, which has already seen Afghanistan qualify for the Super 4 stage after defeating both Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Former Indian wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya gave his views on the slump of the Bangladesh's top order in the clash against Sri Lanka.

Talking to CricTracker on the BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show, Vijay Dahiya, highlighted a lack of role identification in the Bangladeshi team. He reckoned the players are looking to preserve their own spot in the side as they are insecure about their future in the team.

"If we talk about Bangladesh, they have not identified roles, despite playing so much cricket, instead of being secure, the Bangladeshi players look insecure about their future in the team. When you play for yourself, you try to score 30-35 runs to secure your place in the side. You don't see the same mindset in the Afghanistan players, who play to win the match rather than preserving their spot in the team," Vijay Dahiya was quoted saying by CricTracker.

Vijay Dahiya ponders over Bangladesh's strategy against left-handed batters

Vijay Dahiya also touched upon the gameplan of the Sri Lankan and Afghanistan teams, who have utilized one of their spinners in the powerplay and kept the other for the middle overs. He also stated that the abundance of left-handed batters in the Sri Lankan line-up could trouble the Bangladeshi bowlers, especially the veteran spinner Shakib Al Hasan, who is a vital bowler for the Bangla Tigers in the do-or-die clash on a stick wicket in Dubai.

"T20 is all about intent, which has not been visible from the Bangladesh side. If you look at Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, they have a set plan, they use one designated spinner in the powerplay (Mujeeb and Theekshana), and then they have two world-class spinners (Rashid and Hasaranga) in the middle overs," The 49-year-old added.
