Former England captain and world champion Eoin Morgan noted that the strength and depth of the Indian squad make them the favourites to lift the T20 World Cup trophy next month. Rohit Sharma and Co. lost to eventual champions, England, in the last edition of the marquee event in 2022 and would want to go the distance this year.

Last month, India announced their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to be held in the West Indies and the USA. While most of the fans were content with the team that was picked, some expressed their concerns with the omissions of proven performers like Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh, who were picked among the reserves. Praising the overall quality of the side, ODI World Cup-winning captain, Morgan, backed the Men in Blue to win their second T20 World Cup title.

“The strongest side, even with injuries throughout the tournament, is India, without a doubt. Their strength and depth is absolutely incredible at the moment. And it’s almost probably, we’re talking about who the players that were missed out in their squad of 15 because of the quality that they possess,” Morgan said on Sky Sports.

“They are favourites for me. I think that they’re just the quality that they have on paper. If they produce it, I think they can, they can beat anybody quite well in the tournament,” he added.
