‘There are butterflies in your stomach’ - Shreyas Iyer reflects on factors that keep him going on field
"I have said many times earlier that when you are on the other side of the line, there are butterflies in your stomach," Iyer said.
Led by Shreyas Iyer, the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are flourishing in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. With five wins and three losses, Kolkata Knight Riders sit in second place in the standings and are well on their way to the IPL playoffs.
Continuing their campaign, Kolkata Knight Riders next take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 47th game of the tournament on Monday, April 29. Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer talked about what keeps him motivated to play.
"I have said many times earlier that when you are on the other side of the line, there are butterflies in your stomach. You always think about the crowd and the situation as to what will happen,” Iyer said in a video shared by Star Sports.
"And the moment you step in, I go blank, meaning you could see the crowd cheer, you could hear them, but at the same time you are there in your zone. After going in that zone, nothing else matters to be honest but when you hit a six or a four and the crowd starts making noise and if the batsman is going in a great flow, to see the crowd cheer, 'we want six, we want four’, that gives you so much energy inside, that I like very much And also when the crowd chats your name," Iyer concluded.
