‘There was no anxiety’ - Anshul Kamboj reflects on his 10-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy
“There was no anxiety as such. The focus was on maintaining the same intensity that had brought me the first eight wickets," Kamboj said.
Haryana’s 25-year-old star Anshul Kamboj recently scripted history as he became only the third player in Ranji Trophy history to take 10 wickets in an innings. He achieved the feat against Kerala in round 5 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024/25.
It is worth noting that Kamboj bowled 30.1 overs in the first innings against Kerala. He dismissed every single batter and conceded 49 runs in the process, putting in a performance of a lifetime.
After he achieved the feat, Anshul Kamboj took part in an interview where he talked about his performance. He was asked how he took the eight wickets out of 10 in the previous day and was asked about his thoughts on the last two wickets.
“There was no anxiety as such. The focus was on maintaining the same intensity that had brought me the first eight wickets. I knew if I stuck to plans, the remaining two would come eventually,” Kamboj was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Furthermore, he also talked about the support that he received from his teammates for his ten-wicket haul. He revealed that he was thrilled to get the backing of his teammates and how big of an achievement it has been for Haryana Cricket.
“The support was immense. As luck would have it, I got a wicket in the very first over of the morning. Everyone on the field was eager for me to get that 10th wicket and make the moment memorable. I received all the encouragement I needed at that stage. They were all thrilled because this was a big achievement for Haryana cricket. It feels great to have their backing,” Kamboj said.
It is worth noting that Haryana and Kerala took on each other at the Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, where the bowlers are often known to get some assistance; the same was the opinion of Kamboj as well.
“There was definitely assistance, but it offered something for both the batters and the bowlers. If the batters stay focused and apply themselves, they can score runs,” Kamboj said.
