There's big margin between Jasprit Bumrah and other top-class bowlers around the world: Sanjay Manjrekar
"India is so fortunate to have Bumrah in their playing 11," said Manjrekar.
Jasprit Bumrah is having a dream run at the ongoing T20 World Cup, where India has crossed the first step of the Super 8 stage. The stunning pacer has been absolutely unplayable in the current ICC event with eight wickets under his belt. His skills were on display during the Afghanistan clash as well where he choked the opponents with figures of 3/7 in four overs.
Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar came up to laud Bumrah and stated how he is so different with other seamers around the world. The cricketer expert stated that India is very lucky to have his services in the unit.
Sanjay Manjrekar speaking to ESPNCricinfo TIMEOUT show praised Jasprit Bumrah on his bowling performance in the World Cup, saying, “Jasprit Bumrah is performing in the USA and West Indies just like Sunil Narine at Eden Gardens during the IPL. There were many matches when we had not conceded the boundary and look at the difference between him and a couple of other seamers. They were also an international standard, but quite rightly, I mean, he's looking even better when you look at all the top-class bowlers around the world. There's a big margin between them and Bumrah, and India is so fortunate to have him in your playing 11.”
Anil Kumble spoke on Jasprit Bumrah’s performance against Afghanistan and in the World Cup, said, “The kind of understanding of his own bowling you can make out, Even when he got Rahmanullah Gurbaz out on a slower ball and wide line. He gets the execution perfect. You know, that's what it is. It's about yes the variations every bowler has variations. But executing all those variations under pressure getting the line right getting the length, right? For each batsman he would have figured that out and then doing it right in a big game. This doesn't come easy, and I think he has given limited boundaries in the entire tournament.”
Manjrekar also lauded prolific T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav whose blistering innings against Afghanistan took India over the line. The commentator highlighted the value that Yadav brings to the team with his style of play and execution. Former India spinner Anil Kumble also agreed with Manjrekar's statement on the value that Surya adds to the unit.
Sanjay Manjrekar shared his thoughts on Suryakumar Yadav’s performance against Afghanistan in the Super 8 stage of the World Cup, saying, “This is the advantage India have for having one of the best T20 batters in the world. Tricky pitch, Rashid Khan on song, and again you saw the value that Suryakumar Yadav brings to any team. And again the thing to like about him which is not really highlighted much is the amount of ground shots that he plays. He chips the balls over the infield in the gaps. So, he's not somebody who's always looking for sixes which means sometimes there can be miss-execution trying to extract power.”
Anil Kumble agreed to the fact that Suryakumar Yadav brings a lot to the table with the versatile talent he possesses, saying, “It gives India the kind of power and stroke play that you need at someone who's batting at number four. It certainly puts pressure on the opposition bowlers because it's not easy to control a Surya in this kind of form. You don't know where to bowl, wherever you bowl the field is sort of you find it hard to stop him from scoring boundaries. So yeah it certainly augurs well. First game of the Super 8s and you have Surya coming back into this kind of form."
