Lucknow Super Giants star pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur fired back at commentators for over-criticising bowlers and being ignorant of how the game has been changing. The 33-year-old did not hold back the punches while talking about the commentators in the tournament.

LSG so far have been in incredible form, most recently winning against the Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday, April 12. One of the stars with the ball for the team has been Shardul Thakur, who is currently the highest wicket-taker for the franchise with 11 wickets from six matches despite being slightly expensive at times.

There are a lot of experts and commentators who have criticised his economy, to which Thakur responded by mentioning they should look at their own stats first before criticising bowlers in a game where 200+ scores have become normal.

“I’ve always believed that, as a bowling unit, we’ve bowled well throughout the season. A lot of times in commentary, there’s criticism — they try to be hard on the bowlers. But you have to understand that cricket is moving in a certain direction where 200+ scores are becoming more common. And like you said, criticism will always be there — especially from commentators,” Thakur said during a press conference.

“It’s easy to sit in a studio and comment on someone’s bowling, but they don’t see the real picture out there on the ground. I’m sure they should look at their own stats before criticising anyone," the right-arm pace bowler added.

Speaking of Shardul Thakur’s performance in the last game, he ended with figures of 2/34 in the game and was the pick of the bowlers in the last match. He took the big wickets of Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia and played a big role in restricting the GT total to just 180 runs in the first innings.
