England would not have anticipated that their India tour would turn so disappointing. They won only one game in the five-match T20I series and the ongoing three-match ODI series, visitors have edged past them by 2-0. One glaring aspect of England’s disastrous run in their tour is the fact that their bowlers have let them down and let the game slip away on many occasions.
Speaking of England pacers in particular, they have collectively taken 29 wickets at an average of 22.74 and a worrisome economy rate of 9.54. In two ODIs, they have got only six wickets at an abrasive average of 53.83. With things not going well with the team well of lately, England pacer Mark Wood has urged the team to not let the poor outing in India harm the team’s Champions Trophy 2025 prospects. He also recalled England’s best time winning the World Cup 2019 to raise the depleted morale.

“It has obviously been challenging but there’s been loads to learn and I feel like this experience will be good in the long-term going into the Champions Trophy. It’s very easy to look at this and say we’re not performing well because we’re losing games but the 2019 World Cup-winning team, we didn’t win very much here. This is as tough as it comes to win away,” said Wood as quoted by The Independent.
"When we go into the Champions Trophy, we play against other nations where we’re both in foreign conditions and things might change there. We’ve lost this series but when we get to the Champions Trophy, this cannot linger on us. We’ve got to get used to tournament cricket, it’s a totally different feeling, don’t carry any baggage from here," he added.
