Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra is heavily impressed with Rinku Singh’s performance in the ongoing T20I series against Australia. The Aligarh-born batter played the role of a finisher in the first few games while in the fourth T20I, he was assigned to build a solid partnership with Jitesh Sharma after the Men in Blue lost a few early wickets. On a challenging wicket, Rinku didn’t change his style of play and hit 46 runs off 29 deliveries to help India post 174 runs on board.

Later, the hosts restricted the Matthew Wade-led side to 154 runs and sealed the five-match series 3-1. Meanwhile, after the game, Chopra on his YouTube channel praised Rinku and pointed out that the 26-year-old has fulfilled every role that was given to him. He came out to bat in the ninth over and was present till the final over before Jason Behrendorff got the better of him.

“This series will be remembered for Rinku. He was given different roles in different positions, and he fulfilled them. He was very good. You can get him to bat anywhere. Here he got to bat in the ninth over. The six he hit with a reverse sweep was an exceptional hit. He played till the end, got out in the 20th over. I feel he wasn't out. The umpire shouldn't have given it. Benefit of doubt goes to the batter, not to the umpire,” Chopra said.

Shreyas Iyer didn't look himself: Chopra

Shreyas Iyer made his long-awaited return to T20I cricket but managed to score only eight runs in the fourth T20I. Analysing his innings, Chopra said that he didn’t quite look like himself and even while fielding, he wasn’t at his best.

“Shreyas Iyer didn't look himself. The ball was not going into his hands in the field, wasn't able to pick and throw the ball. In batting also, three doubles had come, and then an attempt to play a big shot. From 50 for no loss to 63/3 - wickets fell quickly,” Chopra mentioned.
