‘This too shall pass’- Veteran India spinner Amit Mishra shares cheeky message for out-of-form Babar Azam
Babar Azam has failed to get going in the tournament in the three matches that Pakistan has played.
Pakistan crossed swords with the Netherlands in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Perth as the former registered their first win in the tournament. Veteran India leggie Amit Mishra took to social media and made a sly dig at Pakistan skipper Babar Azam for his form in the marquee tournament.
The Men in Green registered a comprehensive win over the Dutch side that proved to be a must-win contest in order for them to make their case stronger for the semi-final berth. However, Pakistan captain Babar Azam just seemed out of touch as he has been since the first match against team India as he ended up scoring mere four runs against the Netherlands.
The veteran leggie took to Twitter and took a dig at the skipper for his performance for the national side in the recent fixtures and the match against the Netherlands.
“This too shall pass. Stay strong,” tweeted Amit Mishra.
Babar Azam's struggle with the bat continues
The right hander has endured a string of dismal outings for the side in the showpiece event down under and has not been able to put up even a single big score. However, Pakistan dominated the must win encounter and won it with ease against the Dutch side. Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Shadab Khan scalped five wickets between them in seven overs combined.
Mohammad Rizwan, who also endured a string of dismal outings like the skipper, broke the shackles as he scored 49 off 39 balls during Pakistan's chase. While the side did their best to stay alive in the competition for the final-four, the Men in Green were also dependent on India winning their fixture against South Africa.
Unfortunately, enough for the Babar Azam side, team India lost the low scoring game against the Proteas owing to a sublime performance displayed by David Miller that guided them to a victory. Pakistan are just matches away from exiting the tournament following India’s loss to South Africa.
