Three Indian-origin women named in Australia’s U-19 squad

Ribya Syan, Samara Dulvin, and Hasrat Gill were the Indian origin players in the squad.

Cricket Australia recently came forward and announced their U-19 squad for the upcoming Women’s Under-19 Tri-Series with New Zealand and Sri Lanka, which will take place on September 19 in Brisbane. The youth selection panel went forward with 15-player squads for each format, which includes T20s and the 50-over format.

Australia’s former cricketer Kristen Beams was named the head coach of the squad, and throughout the series, the Aussies will play four T20s and two one-day matches. However, some of the notable inclusions in the side are the three Indian-origin youngsters in the squad: Ribya Syan, Samara Dulvin, and Hasrat Gill. Speaking of their inclusion, Cricket Australia took centre stage and highlighted how their name in the squad goes to show the ever-growing diversity of Australian cricket. 

“Their inclusion reflects the growing diversity within Australian cricket and the significant contributions of players with Indian heritage,” the statement from Cricket Australia read. 

Australia Under-19 side will clash with New Zealand from September 19

Australia will begin the series by taking on New Zealand U-19 in the first T20 of the tri-series at the Alan Pettigrew Oval on September 19. Their second T20 will be against Sri Lanka on September 22. Which will be followed by two T20s against New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

Further, after their T20 series, they will shift their focus to the 50-over format. The first game will be between Australia and Sri Lanka on September 30. With the last 50-over game being on October 2.
