Tim David, considered as one of the deadliest finishers in white-ball cricket currently, will don the Aussie shirt and would be expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The 26-year-old was in phenomenal form in the recently concluded T20I series against India and West Indies. Even though his impactful innings did not help Australia get a win in the second T20I against England, the former Singapore international was clinical with his 40 of 23 balls.

David Warner, his teammate in the Australia squad, is thus very happy to have him in the set-up. He compared David with the T20 legend Kieron Pollard and also appreciated him for his incredible strength. Speaking to the host broadcaster during Australia’s third T20I against England, Warner also mentioned that the cricketer doesn’t have any flaws at the moment.

“He (Tim David), got some incredible power and is an awesome bloke, reminds me of Kieron Pollard and can bowl as well. He makes me look small and hits a long way, there aren't too many flaws in his game. Met him at the IPL first time. He is going to play a big role for us at the World Cup and it is exciting,” Warner said.

CA likely to lift David Warner’s captaincy ban

Talking more on Warner on professional front, the cricketing world might once again see Warner lead the Australian side if CA tend to overturn their decision. It is to be noted, during the 2018 Australia tour of South Africa, he was part of the infamous sandpapergate scandal which put a lifetime captaincy ban on him.

However, with Aaron Finch announcing his retirement from 50-over cricket, the 35-year-old now seems to be the ideal candidate to lead the Australian side, given that ODI World Cup is all set to be played next year. The opener expressed his interest on multiple occasions but Cricket Australia is yet to overturn their decision on his future.

“If it does get overturned then we have to go from there. For me, I'm a leader in this team no matter what. It doesn't matter if you've got a 'c' or a 'vc' next to your name. You've got to put your best foot forward and lead by example,” said Warner during Australia’s third T20I against England at Canberra.

Even though nothing is confirmed at the moment, reports claim that the southpaw currently is the favourite to take up the role.
