The second Test between Sri Lanka and Australia is all set to commence on Thursday, February 6, at the Galle International Stadium, situated in Galle. The first game was convincingly dominated by the visitors, who ended up triumphing by a dominating innings and 242-run margin at the same venue.
Dynamic Australian batter, Travis Head, hinted at the possible return of Sam Konstas as well as Cameron Green for the upcoming red-ball game. Moreover, he also revealed his possible batting role in the upcoming second and final Test of the series.
“Most likely, I’ll go back into the middle order and Sam [Konstas] would open, but I’m glad I’m not a selector. Josh [Inglis] has had an amazing start, guys are playing well, Greeny’s [Cameron Green] going to be fit," Head told The West Australian ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka.
Going to be hard to fit in: Head
Furthermore, Travis Head shared that a competitive team environment such as the intensely contested current Australian one was what would be the most ideal in terms of getting the best out of every participant. Notably, Head opened the batting against Sri Lanka in the first Test was only the sixth instance in 91 innings played. He got his side off to a flying start by stroking a brisk 40-ball 57, comprising 10 fours and a maximum.

“So, it’s going to be hard to fit in and I think that’s what we want. We want an Australian cricket team that’s tough to get in, where everyone’s pushing for spots. That’s where the pressure comes in, trying to hold your spot every Test knowing there are people behind you. So, we’re in a strong position. It’s better having seven or eight batters talked about than three or four," added Head.
Besides, the young Sam Konstas, who got his Test career to a captivating start against India in the recent past, was overlooked for that game. Cameron Green was the other prominent player not part of the XI, with him recuperating from the lower spine injury he underwent a few months back.
