Inaugural Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) champions, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), made a significant addition to their coaching staff, as they roped in Jhulan Goswami as their mentor ahead of the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league.
This year, WCPL will take place before the Caribbean Premier League for the first time. The tournament will be held in Trinidad & Tobago from August 21 to 29. The legendary Goswami is set to add a lot of value to the TKR setup with her truckloads of experience of playing as well as coaching in the sport. She has been the mentor of the Bengal women's team in Indian domestic cricket and is also the mentor-cum-bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League (WPL).

Before retiring in 2022, Goswami scalped 355 wickets across formats in an illustrious career which spanned two decades. She is also no stranger to the shortest format of the game, having represented India on 68 occasions in T20Is. The 41-year-old expressed her gratitude to co-owner - Shah Rukh Khan and CEO of Knight Riders group - Venky Mysore for giving her the opportunity to join the Deandra Dottin-led side ahead of the third edition of WCPL.
“It’s an honor to join such a quality franchise. Knight Riders have done so well in India and around the world, and to join TKR Women at the WCPL is a pleasure. Thanks to KKR management for thinking about me as a mentor and I’m really looking forward to this tournament," Goswami was quoted as saying by myKhel.
"The conversation about me joining TKR started with Mr. Venky Mysore. As a management head, the way he takes care of everyone is amazing. I felt really honored by the way both Shah Rukh Khan and Venky sir welcomed me and spoke to me when we met in Kolkata during the IPL," she added.
Goswami would be reuniting with former India teammates Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey at TKR. The team has also added Australian stars Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen to bolster their lineup.

“Jhulan Goswami is an absolute legend of the game, and we are very happy to have her on board as the mentor of the TKR Women’s team. TKR is a very proud unit, with five championship titles between the men’s and women’s teams over the last 10 years," Mysore said about the development.
“We strongly believe that under Jhulan’s mentorship, the team will reach greater heights. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the youngsters to pick Jhulan’s brains and learn from her experiences to become better cricketers themselves. We would like to wish her all the best, and look forward to seeing her in the TKR setup soon," he added.
