There were a whole lot of questions addressed towards Rohit Sharma after the rain-marred third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy ended in a draw. There were a wide range of questions Rohit had to answer, which he did quite with his typical calm demeanour.

There were understandably a few questions regarding Ravichandran Ashwin too, who had announced his retirement from international cricket a few moments back. Things took an amusing turn when one of the journalists asked whether the trio of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ashwin would be seen in varied capacities.

"Will Pujara, Rahane, and Ashwin will be seen in different roles?," asked a journalist at the post-match press conference.

Rohit's response was quite a humorous one, one which suggested that the two cricketers other than Ashwin are very much in the reckoning for making it to the Test team.

"Arey bhai, khaali Ashwin ne announce kiya hai retirement [Oh brother, only Ashwin has announced retirement]. Tum log marwa doge mujhe, woh dono active hai aur kabhi bhi aa sakte hai perform karke [You people will get me killed someday (laughs), both of them are very well active and can make their way into the team on the back of consistent performances]," shared a witty Rohit, who could be seen quite amused with the twisted framing of the question.

Notably, Pujara and Rahane are not a part of the ongoing BGT series. While Pujara has been a part of the commentary panel for this series, Rahane had been busy featuring in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. Both of the middle-order batters have played an integral role for India Down Under, and their exclusion from the squad stirred a lot of conversations on their future with the side.
