A historic milestone was attained during the U-23 State A Trophy one-day match as Uttar Pradesh chased down a mammoth target of 407 against Vidarbha. The match was played at the GSFC Cricket Ground in Vadodara.
Star batter Sameer Rizvi excelled with another double-century in a span of a few days. A stellar unbeaten 202 from Rizvi's blade took UP home, and they did so with plenty to spare; 8.4 overs to be precise. Fascinatingly, this was Rizvi's fourth century in six matches this tournament.
Notably, this became the highest-successful run-chase in an Indian domestic List A game. Earlier, Bengal Women had got to 390 in a match against Haryana Women in the Women's One-Day tournament earlier this month. It was followed by 384 which was chased down by Andhra Pradesh in a Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Goa.
The splendid knock included 10 fours and a whopping 18 sixes. There was hardly a time during Rizvi's 105-ball knock where he felt out of place. Rizvi was dropped from Uttar Pradesh's Vijay Hazare Trophy side after an underwhelming performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He could only score 136 runs in eight matches.
Openers, Shaurya Singh and Swastik got the team off to a century stand in just 10.4 overs to set things in motion. The duo of Rizvi and wicketkeeper-batter, Shoaib Siddiqui, put on an unbeaten 296-run stand in quick time, comfortably taking their side to a dominating win at the end.

The 21-year-old was acquired by Delhi Capitals for INR 95 lakhs at the mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He would surely be a promising talent to look out for in the season to follow, after such blazing outings at age-group level.
