USA appoint Stuart Law as new head coach of men's cricket team

USA Cricket recently appointed former Australia batter Stuart Law as the new head coach of the USA men's team. Law has previously held high-profile coaching roles with the national teams of Bangladesh, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan on an interim basis.

He will take charge of the team just ahead of a crucial home series against Bangladesh and the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which the USA is co-hosting alongside the West Indies.

"It is an exciting opportunity to join USA cricket at this time. USA is one of the strongest Associate nations in the sport, and I believe that we can mold a formidable squad going ahead," Law said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Stuart is one of the most accomplished coaches: Venu Pisike 

Law is excited about the challenge that lies in front of him and is looking forward to preparing the USA team for their upcoming assignments. "The first task will be to prepare the team for the series against Bangladesh and then set our sights on our home World Cup, which will be huge," said Law further.

USA Cricket chairman Venu Pisike expressed his delight at securing Law's services, noting that the 55-year-old is one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport and that his appointment will only help the team grow to its full potential. 

"Stuart is one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport. He brings a lot of experience to USA Cricket with his varied assignments, particularly in developing international sides over the years," Pisike said.

Law's vast experience in developing international teams, including leading Bangladesh to their first-ever Asia Cup final, will be a valuable asset as he seeks to take the USA to new heights. 

"His appointment will only help the team grow to their full potential. We are excited to have Stuart on board just before the World Cup and look forward to lots of successes together," Pisike added.

The new head coach's first assignment will be a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which will serve as crucial preparation for the T20 World Cup. The USA side will play three matches against Bangladesh at Prairie View, where they previously defeated Canada 4-0 in a T20I series.
