The United States of America has decided to act as host to the additional edition of the FairBreak Global Invitational T20 (FBI) in September 2023. The tournament comprises female cricketers from all parts of the world and the participation of players from Associate nations is the unique selling point of the event.
This is a fully sanctioned tournament by the global governing body of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC). The first season had taken place in collaboration with Cricket Hong Kong in Dubai in May 2022.
USA to be host to additional phase of the FairBreak Invitational T20 2023
Following the massive success of the FBI in 2022, in 2023 the tournament will be entering its second year with its first phase to be played from April 3 to 16 in Hong Kong, and an additional phase of the tournament to be played in the USA, in September 2023.
This move is mainly to popularise cricket in more parts of the world and most importantly, to encourage girls from all spheres of society to take up professional sports. Also, with the gaining popularity of the FBI, FairBreak Global will now be conducting two tournaments per year mandatorily.
Focussing on the mutual collaboration between FairBreak and USA Cricket, the USA Cricket board issued a statement, "By working collaboratively, FairBreak and USA Cricket are supporting gender equity and the advancement of women's and girl's cricket globally," as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Six tems will showcase their skills in the FairBreak Invitational in Hong Kong in April 2023. USA Cricket hopes that up to twelve of its top players will be invited to participate in the FairBreak Invitational in September 2023.
Newly appointed interim CEO of USA Cricket, Vinay Bhimjiani, stated, “We could not be more pleased to collaborate with FairBreak, and to showcase an event here in the USA. I have been working closely with FairBreak founder, Shaun Martyn, and we both agree this will be an outstanding tournament for cricket fans of all ages, genders and nationalities to enjoy!”
