Vidarbha's Aditya Sarwate set to play for Kerala from next domestic season [Exclusive]

The seasoned Vidarbha all-rounder, Aditya Sarwate is all set to start a new chapter in his career as he joins Kerala for the upcoming domestic season.

After a significant nine-year stint with Vidarbha, where he played an instrumental role in the team's successes, Sarwate is ready to explore fresh opportunities and challenges. Throughout his career with Vidarbha, the Nagpur-born has been a key player in the team's success.

His first-class numbers speak volumes of his all-round capabilities, in 61 matches he has scored 1,958 runs at an average of 27.19 and has picked 276 wickets at an average of 19.44. Reflecting on his time with Vidarbha, he expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities he received.

The spin bowling all-rounder shared the news of his departure from Vidarbha on social media. Speaking to CricTracker, Sarwate also confirmed that he has found a new home in Kerala for the upcoming domestic season, further revealing that the reason behind his departure from Vidarbha side was due to a fallout with the senior coaching staff.

"As I am moving towards new avenues in my career, I am grateful to VCA for giving me the opportunity to represent them in different age group categories, and first class since 9 years," he wrote on Instagram.

He also thanked all the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) members and his proudest moment came when he won back-to-back Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy for the side.

"I am thankful to all the VCA officials and management that showed trust in me. It was a proud moment for me to win Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy back-to-back for VCA. I enjoyed playing with everyone in the team, and learned from everyone a lot. I thank all the support staff for being there for all of us over the years," he added.

Throughout his career with Vidarbha, Sarwate had the privilege of sharing the dressing room with cricketing legends such as Faiz Fazal, Wasim Jaffer, and Umesh Yadav.

"Playing and sharing the dressing room with legends of the game, Faiz Fazal, Wasim Jaffer, Umesh Yadav, Akshay Wakhare, and Ganesh Satish was always a learning experience. I thank the entire VCA team for being a valuable part of my life. However, I feel like it's time for me to move on. With a heavy heart, I have decided to part ways with VCA to grab new opportunities life has given me. I wish the best to VCA for the upcoming season," he concluded.

One of Sarwate's standout performances came in the Ranji Trophy 2024, where Vidarbha faced Manipur in Ahmedabad.

Sarwate displayed his bowling brilliance by delivering a unique feat, bowling nine overs, 53 of which were dot balls, including eight consecutive maiden overs. Despite conceding a six, he quickly redeemed himself by dismissing the same batter, Bikash Singh. 

Sarwate finished the match with a brilliant four-wicket haul in the first innings, playing a crucial role in dismissing Manipur for just 75 runs.

He also contributed significantly with the bat, scoring a vital 69 off 82 balls, which was the highest score of the innings. This all-round performance helped Vidarbha secure a bonus-point win, helping them finish at the top in Group A.
