Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25: Karun Nair sets record for most List A runs without being dismissed

Vidarbha captain Karun Nair has scripted history during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The right-handed batter has the most amount of runs without being dismissed in List A cricket. He achieved this remarkable feat after smashing four centuries from his last five games in India's premier domestic 50-over competition.
Nair started his Vijay Hazare campaign with Vidarbha by scoring an unbeaten 112 against Jammu & Kashmir. He followed it up with 44 against Chandigarh. In Vidarbha's next three games against Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, the ace batter slammed 163*, 111*, and 112, respectively.
The 33-year-old is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament, with 542 runs from five innings at an average of 542 and a strike rate of 115.07.
Vidarbha won all the five games they have played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and are at the top of Group D with 20 points and a net run-rate of +1.433. Tamil Nadu are second in the group with 14 points from five matches.
In the sixth round clash against Uttar Pradesh on Friday, December 3, Vidarbha won the toss and opted to field first against Uttar Pradesh. The Rinku Singh-led side put on 307/8 in their 50 overs after Sameer Rizvi starred with an 82-ball 105. Meanwhile, all-rounder Nachiket Bhute was the pick of the bowlers for Vidarbha as he finished with figures of 4/65.
In reply, Vidarbha romped home in 47.2 overs after losing just two wickets. Apart from Nair's century, Yash Rathod contributed with an unbeaten 138 off 140 balls. The UP all-rounder Bihari Rai managed to dismiss Nair after the Jodhpur-born had remained unbeaten for 470 consecutive deliveries across five games.

Vidarbha will play their final game in Group D against Mizoram on Sunday, January 5. Nair and Co. have already ensured themselves a spot in the knockouts after winning five consecutive matches.
