The stage is set for the two heavyweights in India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) to go head-to-head and compete for the coveted Champions Trophy title. Out of all the world-class players in the tournament the man who will be getting most of the attention is Virat Kohli who will not only play his fifth ICC final but also mark his 550th appearance in international cricket for the Men in Blue.

This will make the 36-year-old legendary batter only the second Indian and sixth overall player to complete this milestone. He will also want to make the most of it in the final against New Zealand who have a great record in clutch games against the Indian team in the past beating them in the second edition of the Champions Trophy (then ICC Knockout Trophy) final in the year 2000, the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final and the 2021 World Test Championship final. It is safe to say that the team will have something to prove in the upcoming fixture in Dubai.

Speaking of the other legends who have reached the 550 international milestone which include the likes of the former India legend, Sachin Tendulkar, Sri Lankan legends Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, and Sanath Jayasuriya, and Aussie great Ricky Ponting. This has officially put him amongst the greats in the world of cricket and will be another record that will be ticked off his list.

Virat’s overall record in international cricket

Speaking of Virat Kohli’s record in all formats of the game he is currently the third-highest run-getter combining all three formats of the game only behind Tendulkar and Sangakkara in the list with 27598  runs which he has scored with a stellar average of 52.36. During this long journey in international cricket, Kohli scored 82 centuries and 143 half-centuries, respectively.
