Virat Kohli crushes Yo-Yo Test, raises level to 17.2
Star India batter gears up for Asia Cup 2023.
Star India batter Virat Kohli is known for being one of the fittest cricketers in the world. He brought a fitness revolution to Indian cricket during his time as a captain. He made the yo-yo test compulsory for every cricketer, and that eventually helped the team in the longest format of the game.
Meanwhile, sharing his Yo-Yo Test result on Thursday, August 24, Kohli stunned the cricketing world as he raised his fitness level to a time trial of 17.2. The cricketer shared it on his Instagram story and expressed his delight over it. “The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done,” Kohli wrote.
Kohli gears up for upcoming Asia Cup
India have failed to win a single ICC title in over a decade and hence, the upcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup hold a lot of value. In order to gear up for the upcoming competitions, Team India have already begun their preparations at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Notably, India will also play practice matches or match simulations in the upcoming days to gear up for the competition.
Kohli, who was terrific for the Men in Blue in the last edition of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup, will once again be a key part of the team. He has the experience of winning the World Cup in 2011, which can come in handy at some point. Meanwhile, India will play their first Asia Cup match against Pakistan on September 2.
Ahead of that, the selection committee has made some bold decisions as players like Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, who are yet to prove themselves in ODI cricket, have been called up for the tournament. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, too, will be making their return, out of which, the former may miss a couple of games as he is currently dealing with a niggle. Hence, Ishan Kishan is expected to feature in some capacity.
