Kohli struck 47th century during Asia Cup 2023

India had an unforgettable campaign in the 16th edition of the Asia Cup as Rohit Sharma and Co. outplayed the defending champions Sri Lanka by ten wickets to crown the title for the eighth time.

Meanwhile, Kohli was impressive in the continental championship, hitting his 47th century in the 50-over format during the high-octane Super Four clash against Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He amassed an unbeaten 122 against the arch-rivals, which the the Men in Blue won by 228 runs.

Kohli also added another feather to his cap during that match, becoming the fastest to score 13000 ODI runs, reaching the feat in 267 innings. The right-handed batter surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved it in 321 innings.

He has had a memorable campaign, having scored 129 runs from five games at an average of 64.50 and a strike rate of 114.15. The 34-year-old was dismissed cheaply against Sri Lanka and was rested for the dead-rubber against Bangladesh in the Super Four stage.

Meanwhile, he did not get a chance to bat in the championship game as India bowled out Sri Lanka for a paltry score of 50 runs after being asked to bowl first. Notably, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan helped India chase down the target in the seventh over with all 10 wickets in hand.
