Virat Kohli hits the nets after two months, looks in sublime touch ahead of IPL 2024

India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting star Virat Kohli participated in his first practice session after two months at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Tuesday, March 19. Notably, Kohli had taken a sabbatical from cricket ahead of the five-match Test series against England to be along with his Bollywood actor wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of his second child โ€˜Akaayโ€™.

The star batter finally returned to India a few days back from London and linked up with the RCB squad on Monday, March 18. After two long months, fans got to see Kohli batting as he played some sumptuous shots in the nets. Kohli first used his feet to go inside-out against a left-arm spinner and later played a slog sweep.

Notably, Kohli will be eager to emulate his brilliant form in the upcoming season as he scored 639 runs from 14 innings in 2023 at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82. The 35-year-old is the leading run-scorer in the history of the tournament with 7263 runs from 229 innings at an average of 37.24 and a strike rate of 130.02 with seven hundreds and 50 fifties to his name.

The former RCB skipper shattered record books during the 2016 season plundering 973 runs from 16 innings at an average of 81.08 and a strike rate of 152.03 with four hundreds and seven fifties. The 35-year-old will hope to have another record-breaking season with the bat in the upcoming edition and help RCB finally end their 16-year-long IPL trophy drought.
