Nepal had a huge opportunity to play against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Even though the Rohit Paudel-led side failed to qualify for the Super Fours, they had many unforgettable moments. One such moment came in their match against India. Opener Aasif Sheikh played some incredible cricket and also hit a half-century against a quality bowling side like India, which he will remember for a long time.

Meanwhile, star cricketer Virat Kohli dropped his catch in the second over of the match, which gave him an extra lifeline to continue batting and eventually hit a half-century. Meanwhile, after the match, a few Nepal cricketers were honoured with medals, including Aasif, whom Kohli handed over the medal.

Speaking about the experience, Aasif stated that Kohli even joked and mentioned that he deserves a medal as well for dropping his catch.

“Virat Kohli jokingly told me 'I should get a medal too, I dropped your catch,” Aasif mentioned.

Coming to the game, the Men in Blue registered an easy victory over their neighbours. Both openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma were incredible with the bat, and courtesy of the same, they registered a ten-wicket win and have qualified for the Super Fours. With the ball, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj picked up three wickets each as they restricted Nepal to 230 runs.

On the other hand, India will once again take on Pakistan on September 10 in Colombo. Their first match was called off due to rain, while the second match holds a lot of importance, considering it to be a Super Four match. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is expected to make his comeback in the upcoming game, and it will be interesting to see who he replaces, as Ishan Kishan is in incredible form at the moment.

Jasprit Bumrah, too, will be making his return. He couldn’t take part in the match against Nepal due to the birth of his son but will be playing the next match against arch-rivals Pakistan.
