Vitality T20 Blast 2024: June 14 Match Review - Players' Stats, Scorecards, Performances, and More
There were four matches each in the North Group and the South Group, some resulting in close victories and some in one-sided contests.
Cricket fans were treated to non-stop cricket action on Friday (June 14) as a total of seven matches were played in the T20 Vitality Blast 2024. There were four matches each in the North Group and the South Group, some resulting in close victories and some in one-sided contests.
Notably, the South Group match between Hampshire and Middlesex ended without a result as it was abandoned midway through the first innings due to rain. The first clash of the day saw Worcestershire taking on Nottinghamshire at New Road, Worcester. In a rain-curtailed encounter, Nottinghamshire emerged victorious by one run via DLS method.
In the subsequent match between Warwickshire vs Yorkshire, the former registered a comfortable four-wicket victory, chasing down a target of 146 runs in 18.1 overs. In another North Group match, Lancashire won by 25 runs after they successfully defended a target of 163 against Leicestershire.
South Group’s first game of the day ended without a result as both Surrey and Gloucestershire scored equal runs (170/6 and 170/9, respectively) in 20 overs. The following match between Somerset and Kent was interrupted by rain and resulted in the number of overs being reduced to five per side. Somerset won by 14 runs via DLS method as Kent failed to chase down 56 in 30 balls.
In the other North Group fixture between Derbyshire and Northamptonshire, the former won by 24 runs via the DLS method after rain spoiled the fun midway through the second innings. The final match on Friday was between South Group members Essex and Sussex. Batting first, Essex posted 178/9 in 20 overs. In reply, Sussex hunt down the target in just 15.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.
