Vitality T20 Blast 2025: Dewald Brevis, Lhuan-dre Pretorius to feature for Hampshire

Dewald Brevis, the South African youngster, is all set to feature for Hampshire in the upcoming season of the Vitality T20 Blast after being unsold in the ongoing IPL 2025. The batter had previously represented Mumbai Indians (MI) in the league, but found no bidders ahead of the mega auction for the eighteenth edition. Fellow Proteas cricketer Lhuan-dre Pretorius will also be seen playing for Hampshire.

Brevis made a name for himself following some great performances in the U-19 World Cup for South Africa and was eventually picked to play in the IPL. He also had a brilliant run at the SA20 in the third season, but MI did not think of retaining the batter, nor did any other teams bid for the South Africa prodigy. However, the player will now focus on proving his mettle in the English league, which begins March 29. Furthermore, Brevis aims to play in the County Championship as well for the Hampshire side.

“I'm hugely excited about joining Hampshire Hawks for the Vitality Blast this summer. the team has a great history in the competition, and I look forward to being a part of that," Brevis said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“It's great we have Lhuan-dre with us as well, and hopefully we can put on a good show and entertain the crowd at Utilita Bowl on our way to reaching Finals Day and lifting the trophy. I'm also looking forward to playing in the County Championship, the team were so close last year, and I hope I can help the club push for the title in 2025,” the former U19 World Cup star added.

Young cricketers hungry to make their mark: Hampshire DoC

Apart from Brevis, the Hampshire Director of Cricket Giles White is also excited to see the former perform alongside Pretorius, where he not only praised his ability and talked about his recent form but also mentioned that the team will have two young and upcoming players trying to make a mark in the tournament.

“Dewald is an exceptional young player who will add firepower to our batting line-up this summer. He will arrive having enjoyed good recent form, and alongside Lhuan-dre Pretorius, we will have two young cricketers that are hungry to make their mark,” White said.
