'Was nervous coming into this game' - Marizanne Kapp following match-winning performance against UP Warriorz

Delhi Capitals' seamer Marizanne Kapp stole the show with the most economical stats in the Women's Premier League (WPL) with a phenomenal outing in the match against UP Warriorz at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 27.

Kapp claimed a three-wicket haul while conceding just five runs in her four-over spell and was eventually named Player of the Match. Notably, Delhi outplayed the Warriorz by nine wickets. Kapp emphasized her sense of fulfillment with her performance, saying she is 'pleased' with the victory. She went on to say that she was quite anxious about the game initially.

“Was happy when we won the toss, was nice to go out there and bowl,” Kapp was quoted as saying by News 18.

“Pleased with the win. Tried to put some training into my bowling, and changed a few things. I am just happy, was nervous coming into this game,” the 34-year-old added.

Kapp also noted that she enjoys bowling with the new ball, which is the plan for her bowling. Notably, she took the first three wickets of Vrinda Dinesh, Tahlia McGrath, and Alyssa Healy.

“I love bowling with the new ball, that’s the planning with my bowling. Luckily Meg Lanning gave me that 4th successive over," she said further.

Delhi Capitals beat UP Warriorz by nine wickets

Speaking of the game, Delhi restricted Alyssa Healy and Co. to a paltry score of 119 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after winning the toss and opting to field first. Radha Yadav, was the pick of bowlers, who claimed a four-wicket haul, dismissing Delhi's Grace Harris, Shweta Sherawat, Kiran Navgire, and Sophie Ecclestone. The lone batter that stood out for her team was Sherawat, who scored 45 runs off of 42 deliveries.

The duo of Meg Lanning (51) and Shafali Verma (64) put up an opening stand of 119 runs before the Delhi captain lost a wicket with just one run remaining to clinch the game. Lanning was removed after reaching 51 runs, while Verma stayed unbeaten at 64 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues finished off in style as she scored a boundary off Sophie Ecclestone's delivery to help Delhi win the game by nine wickets with 33 balls to spare.
