Former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer recently opened up on his most memorable Asia Cup match from the history of the tournament. So far, the Asia Cup 2022 has been nothing short of entertaining and has turned out to be the perfect multi-nation tournament ahead of a big tournament ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in October.

The teams have had the luxury to test different combinations and players with an eye on the ICC event where they have got a clearer picture of what lies in the shed as well. Sri Lanka and Pakistan have fought their way into the finals by playing exceedingly well in the Super Four stage and managed to eliminate a powerhouse like India.

Meanwhile, Jaffer picked up the previous final in 2018 between India and Bangladesh to be his most memorable game in his recent discussion with Nikhil Chopra.

“India vs Bangladesh final in the 2018 Asia Cup is the most memorable match for me in the Asia Cup history,” Wasim Jaffer via 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.

Litton Das' fantastic century went in vain for Bangladesh in 2018 final

Surprisingly, there was no Virat Kohli for the tournament last time, when India met Bangladesh in the finals and it was played in the 50-over format. Rohit Sharma captained the side and he elected to field first after winning the toss without any doubts. The opening partnership of 120 setup for a big total to be posted, however, after Mehidy Hasan was dismissed, there wasn’t much support for Litton Das.

The right hander ran out of partners after a while despite reaching a stupendous century and despite Das’ 121, Bangladesh were skittled out for 222. The Tigers came back strong in the second innings and fought tooth and nail with the Indian batters finding it tough to get past half centuries. Contributions from Rohit, Dinesh Karthik, and Dhoni helped India get close to the total and, in the end, India ended up winning by three wickets off the very last ball.
